The general term “Billfish” refers to a number of predatory fish species that can be most easily identified by their spear-like “bill”. This bill is a tool and tactic used by these fish for slashing at and stunning prey. Another distinctive body part of these fish are their dorsal fins which are along the top of their backs. Billfish can be found in many different bodies of waters throughout the world since they are a migratory species. Most do call the tropical and sub-tropical waters “home”. All billfish prey on small free swimming fish to crustaceans and squid.
